Dynamic Web site and iPhone Application
In 2008, just a year and a half after the first generation iPhone hit the market, the iTunes App Store launched. Ethervision was keen to the potential of mobile application as a means of engagement due to its previous experience in web development, video production and social network marketing.
It has been perceived that by 2014 more people will be on the mobile internet than the desktop.
After the launch of iTunes app store in 2008, Ethervision’s passion for the sport of skateboarding and keen sense about mobile application development precipitated the idea to develop a skateboard app and social networking web site that would connect skateboarders around the world through the skateparks that they skated and skate shops that they frequented.
Based on the rapid growth of the mobile marketing platform, Ethervision developed a new concept for connecting skateboarders to skateparks as well as to each other. Ethervision designed a brand identity for the application and went-to-town on a dynamic iPhone application and content-managed web site. The web site and iPhone app would allow users to do geo-locational searches for skateparks based on their current location, find directions to skateparks, follow & connect with other skaters, upload video and image content to each skateparks profile and vote on their favorite skateparks. It would be the most robust skateboard app on the market.
Shortly after the launch of Skateropolis, Ethervision decided to develop a free version that would help to drive sales of the full version of the application. The free version was a success and increased the Skateropolis user-base ten-fold.
The launch of Skateropolis had a great impact on the way in which skaters communicated with each other. The app received numerous positive reviews and is still considered one of the top skateboard apps in the world.
