Ethervision, a Chicago based digital agency, just added some unique functionality to Lakai’s iPhone application and mobile website.  Using the newest Google maps API with HTML 5, users can now search for Lakai shoes in both the web browser and the iPhone application.

If the user is looking at the Lakai mobile website through a mobile browser, then clicking on  store locator will use HTML 5 and Google Maps to triangulate your location and then drop pins in for the nearest skateshops carrying Lakai shoes.  Users can then drive to the store or call directly from the map by clicking on the phone number.

If the user clicks the very same store locator within the iPhone application, then Apple’s fantastic map api takes over and the user gets a seamless experience within the app.  Users can then call the location or get turn by turn directions to the store.

The Lakai mobile website and iPhone app hybrid is a unique solution for a company that updates their sites and app with fresh content daily.  ethervision wrote PHP code that grabbed the necessary assets from Lakai’s existing web site so that the workflow is the exact same.
